In Dog We Trust

Our Father which art in heaven

Hallowed be the name of Thomas.

Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done Thomas (on earth or you will move heaven to get it).

I will give you this day your daily bread (actually a gluten free portion of mine).

And forgive me my trespasses of impatience with your dawdling (my sins are negligable in comparison to yours).

For thine is the kingdom (the couch really does belong to you).

The power (he just won’t budge)

and the glory (such a handsome boy)

for ever and ever, amen.

And the revelation ensued that for all the persuasion of shiny men

popped up in pulpits, none had successfully pierced her side

then that of the mirrored version of God: Dog

And God became flesh and dwelt amongst her

and on top of her

and took up all of the bed.

Thomas, Prince of Peace

(he seldom barks)

eyes like satellite dishes

that transmit salvation.

Thou must love the Lord thy Dog with all thy heart, soul and mind…

Snuggled nightly at her feet

their biorhythms entwined

like halos.

In DOG we trust.

She has been born again.
